Joking aside - I hope its a mellow night on the scanner tonight, but am sure that is too much to hope.  So just be safe people, have fun, and celebrate the new year in style.  (Not an orange jumpsuit.)

City FD just got paged for a possible chimney fire.

Sounds like it was just a flare up…. which is good. 3 units on-site within a short period of time and 2 PD units helping to direct traffic. Good response time guys!

All units were retuning to base at 10:25pm.

Well we got a rural firecall today. Strong smell of propane. There was a propane leak up there, but fortunately everything turned out well. Ottertail got out there fairly quickly and the guys were able to come back in fairly quickly.

It has been a fairly quiet winter so far, but it was also good that it wasn’t anything too dramatic.

Holy Ambulance calls today.  I know some days are busier than others, but wow the Ambulance crews have been busy a lot today.  Something like a good 6 pages I have heard today.

Good work to those guys!  On the ball every time a page goes out for them.

Welcome to Scanner Whores!

This is a brand new site dedicated to scanner fans! We are based out of Jamestown, ND and currently monitor the main public analog frequencies.

What is the purpose of this site?

Well, the site is still under development for starters. That being said, the main idea currently is to post news relating to scanning activities in Jamestown, ND. The short list includes: Breaking news, resources, links, and much more.

We will be looking for contributions!

If you live in Jamestown, ND - feel free to contact us! Once again, this site is under development, but as the site forms and more content is added (and additional services, content, etc) user input will be appreciated.

What are things that site members/visitors can expect?

Public safety related information. This will be our key point of interest, and so a key factor in any content.

Something fun - we haven’t nailed this part down, but we would like to develop a community, and interact with existing communities, of scanner fans.

An ever increasing scope of services. Eventually we would like to have links to live scanner audio. (This requires hooking a scanner up to a PC and serving the audio. This requires funds that are not available at this time. We are waiting till we switch over to a digital scanner before doing this.)

Where the heck did you guys come up with the name “Scanner Whores?”

A couple of friends discovered that a decent amount of conversation was what was happening over the week on the scanner. “Dang we are Scanner Whores!” The rest is as they say, history. So to add: To be a frequent scanner listener - it takes: Time, effort, and yes sometimes money.
